Release Notes 53

Release Notes by Playfood: food delivery SaaS solution

We’re excited to roll out a powerful new batch of powerful features designed to address a significant challenge faced by our partners in various markets: achieving price flexibility and operational control. This release enables vendors and marketplaces to navigate government regulations, customer price sensitivity and logistical complexity more effectively, while maintaining profitability and a high level of service. Let's take a closer look at what's new:

1. Category-Specific Markups

You can now apply different markups to different categories of items. This update is particularly useful in regions where regulatory restrictions or customer expectations make standard markup pricing ineffective. For example, if certain essential goods (such as bread or milk) are particularly price-sensitive, you can ask our team to apply a specific markup to those categories only. Simply organise your catalogue accordingly, then contact your dedicated account manager to pass on your request to activate the custom markup rules.

2. Service Fees by Category

In addition to general service fees, you can now apply specific service fees to particular product categories. This feature works alongside the new markup flexibility. For instance, if you run a grocery marketplace selling regulated products such as cigarettes, which must be sold at a fixed market price, you can apply a 0% markup and still charge a delivery service fee to offset your operational costs. This layered pricing strategy enables you to remain competitive and compliant without compromising your margins.

3. Global SKU Support for Easy Catalog Updates

We have implemented SKU as a global identifier across our system. This makes catalog management much simpler when using our CSV import/export feature. Previously, updates such as price or image changes required manual editing. Now, simply update your original CSV file with SKU references and re-upload it to sync your catalogue automatically. This upgrade also paves the way for seamless ERP integration — watch this space for more automation soon!

4. Call Center Admin Alerts for Missed Confirmations

A new alarm system is now available for Call Center teams. If an order is not confirmed within the designated time limit set in your Playfood Marketplace system settings, the platform will issue a sound alert and highlight the delayed order in red. Simply enable the toggle on the Call Center panel page and ensure that your browser is set to allow audio notifications. This feature helps to reduce human error and speed up order processing during peak hours.

5. Courier-Vendor Mapping

We’ve expanded our courier mapping tool. As well as the existing filters for vehicle type or special equipment, you can now assign couriers to specific vendors. This feature is designed to support restaurants and stores with in-house delivery teams who want to benefit from marketplace order volume. You can now route vendor-specific orders to their internal couriers, driving more sales while keeping internal teams engaged.

6. Vendor-Specific Courier Message Customization

Operational messages sent to couriers can now be customised for each vendor. This enables the provision of bespoke instructions reflecting the unique requirements of each partner, whether relating to packaging standards, collection times or location-specific notes. This improves courier accuracy and strengthens vendor satisfaction.

7. In-Message Order Details Link for Couriers

We’ve introduced an “Order Details Link” that can be embedded directly in courier messages. This link opens a detailed page containing images, quantities and customer notes, essentially functioning as a mini picker app within the courier interface. It reduces the risk of order errors and streamlines the collection process in retail and restaurant environments. The page is language-matched to the main marketplace, ensuring full clarity.

As always, you can direct any technical, operational or business requests to your dedicated account or partner manager. We will evaluate your request and align it with our development timeline.
